The Real Thing?

Posted: April 25, 2013 in gigs, stories, venues, videos

Here is a stand-up set that I did at the Roxbury Hotel for Quest for the Best. This is me trying to do “normal” stand-up and failing (to be normal) abysmally. The story that I claim is a porn story I picked up at the Tool Shed is, in fact, one of mine, taken from a short story called “looking for Felicity”. A patron at Phuklub asked me for it one time, so I thought it would be OK. Jenny Wong who is taking the video seems to have very shaky hands (thinks its funny or nerves, you be the judge).

The idea for my story Fire Fiend I got out of a newspaper article I read at work (you pick up some good information in libraries some times). Some geezer had abducted and posted compromising photos of his colleague on the internet. As you do. (click on the link to read)

Its gone through a few edits. Like the last one where I went through and put clip art pictures in to illustrate parts of the story. It was a lot of fun. Then I printed it out and put the pages in a plastic binder. It keeps the pages nice and clean.

This is a weird story. Rather than raunch on every page. I found it entertaining to write. I hope you like it too. And yes I have been to New York, though I haven’t engaged in Satantic worship — that’s what an imagination is for.

I’ve gone Global!

WordPress is so cool!

With its handy dandy statistics option I could find for instance:

My blog has been read 68 times in Australia, 7 times in the United States, 1 time in the United Kingdom and I time in Japan (that can’t be all me pressing enter).

I’d just like to say a big thank you to all you people – whoever you are – for reading my stuff. I hope you liked it. I’m writing more all the time. Let’s hope I ace it for you all.

Cheers, Sue

P.S. I posted this blog on Stumbleupon — So you never know who might read it!!!

Sue and Shazza at TAP Gallery

The installation we are standing in front of was a mirror with the word “ME” painted across the top in big black letters. I thought it incredibly funny – because who the hell is “me”? The show was good too. All “women” and all funny, great!!!

Watch this space for more about me at TAP Gallery – the show is on the first Friday of the month and I am down for the 7th of June. I’m really looking forward to it. It’s a lovely intimate space and a lovely audience really warm and loud (when they’ve had a few).

Jane Grimley’s review

Loved this review of my Phuklub work on FaceBook from my friend Jane Grimley:

“Nothing beats listening to Sue Thomas sharing a story at Phuklub. Watching the audience struggle with a mix of disgust, confusion, arousal, bemusement and admiration. Yes Sue! YES!”

At least I made them feel — was my reaction.

But seriously, a night at Phuklub is so much better than a night in front of the TV. You get laughs, you get pals and you learn a whole lot about life. Its like Parkinson on speed (or MDA).

Its kind of confusing for me too, I don’t see anyone further than the front row. I just listen to the nice people laugh. Bless them.
